This weekend, our friends over at Limbwalker will be participating in the 2011 Kentucky Tree Climbing Championship at Central Park in Louisville. This is not just an event for expert tree climbers, though. They will also be holding the Festival of Trees – a day of food, music, and recreational tree climbing (with some help from the aforementioned experts).

We borrowed some of Limbwalker’s tree climbing gear to create the poster for this event. We’ll be there to see what the professionals can do, and maybe take a stab at it ourselves.

We love Louisville. We love supporting our local businesses (especially the restaurants.) In turn, we love the Original Makers Club.

Currently a website, soon to be a book, the Original Makers Club is a city guide to Louisville that hand picks businesses in an effort to bring you the best and most unique experiences that the city has to offer.

As described on their website, the Original Makers Club of Louisville is “a constant stream of Louisville events, people, design, music, announcements, and other pleasantries from all over the world.” I guess we fall into at least one of those categories because we got a little shout out. We recently had the opportunity to create a brochure for The Underglow, a unique and exciting project by artist Chris Doyle. Presented by Louisville-based artwithoutwalls, The Underglow is a video animation that is being projected from the U.S. ambassador’s residence in Stockholm, Sweden onto the frosty, snow-covered ground of the public park that it overlooks.

The 3-D animation, born out of Doyle’s discovery of Swedes’ love for mushrooms, depicts a field of bioluminescent mushrooms, glowing, pulsing and morphing into different colors, representing different sources of light. You can learn more about the project here.
